What is the Girişimci Rampası?

The "1512 TeknoGirişim (Technoentrepreunership ) Initiative Capital Support Program" which has been implemented by TUBITAK (Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council) since 2012, has been rearranged on the basis of the experience and results obtained and evolved into the Individual Young Entrepreneur Program(BIGG) The first stage of the BIGG Program is carried out by the BIGG Implementing Agents authorized by TUBİTAK.

The task of the BIGG Implementing Agents of TUBITAK is to provide services such as training, counseling, mentoring, and office facilities, etc, to enable the entrepreneur candidates to transform their technological business ideas into a good business plan and to select the business plans that will apply to the second stage by evaluating the business plans prepared by the candidates participating in the program. Application procedure to BIGG program starts with an application to any of BIGG Implementing Agents in Turkey.

In December 2016, the number of BIGG Implementing Agents in Turkey reached 20. InnoPark acquired the BIGG-Individual Young Entrepreneur Implementing Agency status in December 2016.The name of the pre-incubation program that is operated by InnoPark as BIGG Implementing Agency is «Girişimci Rampasi-Entrepreneur Launcher».

Entrepreneur candidates who has a technological business idea can apply to InnoPark for the first stage of BIGG Program.


The business plans approved by InnoPark will pass to second stage of BIGG program. Business plans accepted to second stage will be evaluated by expert panelists of TUBİTAK. TUBITAK will provide financial support to business plan owners who pass the 2nd stage evaluation. Candidates who receive the grant will establish their own companies and conduct research in order to prove technological validity of their business ideas by developing prototypes and thereof.

Candidates who have passed the second stage evaluation of TUBİTAK will sign a project contract with TUBITAK. Entrepreneurs can receive TEKNOGİRİŞİM Capital support which can reach to TL 150.000 with this contract. A BIGG project can last up to 18 months. Having successfully completed the projects, the BIGG entrepreneurs can apply to TÜBİTAK 1507 SME R & D Startup Support Program which is the third stage of BIGG program. Entrepreneurs who pass the third stage evaluation will receive u of  a project budget  of 550.000 TL at maximum as a grant from TUBITAK .

The candidates who are accepted into the Entrepreneur Rampage program will be assigned a mentor or mentors having national and international experience and knowledge and recognizing the industry in which the enterprise will be built, if they wish to. Entrepreneurial candidates will work with mentors to mature their business ideas by improving their ability to apply and commercialize their business ideas.

Note: Mentoring is a consultation process in which the client is a consultative process to improve the competence and career of human resources and the content of the service is determined by the client and the client is provided with information about what the client can do to succeed and what the client is willing to do. Mentoring is different from a coaching service that focuses on developing a client's business processes, guiding the client on what to do and how to do it in a particular context, setting the content by the coach, envisioning certain performance criteria.

Application Requirements:
  • If you have a business idea focused on technology and innovation and you have dreams of realizing this idea,
  • If you have not received support from TÜBİTAK or the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology TEKNOGİRISIM Program previously
  • If you are a student who can graduate from any undergraduate program within 1 year,
  • If you are a student enrolled in a master's or doctoral program,
  • If you have taken any of the undergraduate, graduate or doctoral degrees 10 years ago at the most

By applying to the Entrepreneur Ramp Program, you can take the first step of applying to TUBİTAK Individual Young Entrepreneur (1512) Program (IYEP) program.

Note:
  • Applicants should not be included in the partnership status of any business as of the date of application.
  • It is not necessary to be a Turkish citizen for the application. However, foreign nationals are to submit foreign national identity number and diploma equivalency certificate from Higher Education Council.
  • An entrepreneur candidate under the program can receive support for once. The entrepreneur cannot make more than one application with different business idea in the same period

2 Evaluation
How appropriate is your idea to the IYEP program?

The IYEP Program aims to encourage qualified entrepreneurs in our country and to create innovative start-up firms that can compete in international markets by entrepreneurs and develop innovative products and processes with high technology levels. For this reason, it is expected that business ideas to be supported under the program will meet the following criteria:

  • Is your business idea focused on developing a new product / service, software or process, or is it an innovative idea that focuses on improving or improving an existing product / service, software or process,
  • Is your business idea likely to turn into a successful business plan?
  • Does your business idea have the potential to provide added value and export / import potential?
  • Does your business idea require implementation of some R & D or technological verification activities beyond the routine implementation?

Business ideas of entrepreneur candidates applying to the Entrepreneur Ramp are evaluated on the basis of the above criteria. Assessment will also take into account the level of innovation (international, national or sector level innovation), scalability and feasibility with support provided through the IYEP program

4 Business Plan Preparation
Materialize how you will implement your business idea

Entrepreneur candidates who mature and develop their business idea with the training, counseling and mentoring services they receive in the Pre-Incubation process, they prepare this matured business idea and the Business Plan to be implemented. The Business Plans is then redacted by the editors. 

5 DemoDay
Impress our Jury with your Business Plan

Entrepreneur candidates present their business plan to be implemented to develop their business ideas on the day of Demoday to a jury composed of Evaluators determined by the "Entrepreneur Rampage". The jury is made up of representatives of businessmen and academics and startup / core capital organizations with experience in entrepreneurship.

The jury evaluates the business plans and uses the following evaluation criteria used by the IYEP Jury, which evaluates the applicants to the IYEP Stage 2:

  • Technology level and innovative aspect of the Business Plan,
  • The suitability and feasibility of the Business Plan,
  • Potential for commercialization of the Business Plan.

The business plans found to be successful by the jury will be forwarded to TUBITAK for the 2nd stage evaluation of the IYEP by the Implementing Agency. 

6 BIGG Phase 2 Evaluation
Present your Business Plan at TÜBİTAK-TEKNOGİRİŞİM panel

Entrepreneur candidates, who have succeeded in the 1st stage, apply on-line to IYEP-Stage 2 on TUBITAK PRODIS application. The candidates under the Entrepreneur Ramp program will be provided with necessary training and support in preparation of the IYEP-Stage 2 Application Document.

Entrepreneurial candidates submit their business plans to the IYEP Evaluation Panels to be organized by TUBITAK. Entrepreneurial candidates set up a company to carry out business plans found to be worthy of support as a result of the panel evaluation. Following the signing of the project contract between TUBITAK and the entrepreneur company, project support and capital support are provided in the form of grants without any guarantee of the entrepreneur company.

Panel Evaluation criteria:

The IYEP Panel will evaluate business plan presentations based on the following criteria:

  • Technology level and innovative aspect of the Business Plan,
  • The appropriateness and feasibility of the Business Plan,
  • Potential for commercialization of your Business Plan.

Entrepreneurs who have succeeded in evaluation by the jury will be accepted to IYEP-Stage 2 and will be entitled to receive TEKNOGRAPH Capital Support up to 150.000 TL.

7 Incubate your own venture

Candidates who are accepted for Stage 2 of IYEP will be admitted to the InnoPark Incubation Center without any evaluation. Entrepreneur candidates receiving the IYEP Support can rent their office or production area from InnoPark Incubator Center by establishing their own company.

Entrepreneurs who are accepted to the stage 2 of the IYEP carry out activities of conceptual design, technical and economic feasibility, technological development (commercial prototype, demo, simulation, software algorithm, etc.) and studies to turn the output of these activities into commercial value in order to realize the proposed business plan. These studies are carried out using financing support in the form of 0 grant from TEKNOGIRISIM Capital support program.

TEKNOGIRISIM capital support which will be given as non-refundable (grant) without any guarantee is maximum one hundred fifty thousand (150,000) TL. After the signing of the project contract, @ of the budget included in the support is transferred to the support account as the first payment, @ of as the interim payment; and @ is transferred to the special support account after the finalization of the project.

It is required to complete project activities regarding business plans under Stage 2 within maximum eighteen (18) months maximum including the additional period. However, incubation period provided for the entrepreneurs by InnoPark may be extended to 3 years.

8 Commercialization
Take advantage of the TÜBİTAK 1507 program to implement your business idea.

You can apply to the TUBITAK 1507 SME R & D Start-up Support Program, which is the 3rd Stage of the Individual Young Entrepreneur (IYEP) Program with the support from the InnoPark Incubation Center. If your business idea is supported by a R & D project to commercialize your business idea you propose to TUBITAK 1507 program on an industrial scale, you can get grant support for a total of up to 550.000 TL.

For the projects to be supported under Stage 3, the support periods specified in the Implementing Principles for the TUBITAK SME R & D Start Support Program shall apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who can apply for the IYEP Program?
    Applicants who have graduated from any undergraduate program and who have graduated at least one year prior to the pre-application date can apply for the program. If you have already received support from TUBITAK 1512 or Teknogirisim Program of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, it is not possible to apply for the IYEP Program. It is necessary for you not to be a partnership in any company.
  2. Can distant education faculty graduates apply for program?
    No, they cannot. Graduates of universities that provide formal education may apply under laws. Since the distant education faculties do not provide formal education, their graduates cannot apply to this program. Distant education graduates cannot apply on their own but may be included in a team with undergraduate or graduate degrees
  3. Is it possible to apply as a team?
    Yes. Teams may apply to the program.   In fact, in some cases team applications may have a higher chance of success. Especially teams composed of members highly complementing each other or teams with members from different disciplines may create a positive impact on the jury. Another advantage of application as a team is that if one of the team members does not put enough effort in business idea implementation phase the other members of the team may compensate this member so as to control the risk of failure.

    However, if the number of members in the team is too large, some of the team members may not spend enough effort to the project with the thought of  "Other guys may do that for me"

  4. Can anyone who is a partner of an active company apply for the program?
    No, anyone who is a partner of any company on the date of application cannot apply to the IYEP program. Candidates in this situation may apply for the program if they leave this partnership before application.
  5. Can foreign nationals apply for the program?
    Turkish citizenship is not required for the application. However, foreign nationals are required to provide foreign identity number and diploma equivalency certificate from Higher Education Council
  6. When can the applications be made?
    Please refer to "calendar" link on the portal www.girisimcirampasi.com. There is no time line for application to Girişimci Rampası. Applications are received throughout the year. However, in order to attend the current call activities, depending upon maturity of your business idea it is possible to apply until the Demoday .
  7. Are there any limitations on business ideas?
    No its not. Innovative business ideas focused on technology may be submitted to the program
  8. Do we have the obligation to resign from the work we are currently working on if we are found eligible?
    No, you do not have to leave your work. But you should pay attention to the following points:

    1) There may be a situation in the company you are currently working with, which may prevent you from establishing your own company. We advise you to inform the company where you work. Also, while you still work full-time, you may have trouble spending enough time with your new company. You have to take this decision seriously!

    2) If the founding partners of the companies established under IYEP work at another company within Social Security Scheme, no expense is presented as an expense at Stage 2. However, founding partners, who are lecturers at universities, may present personnel expense up to gross minimum wage per month in the second stage business plan budget.

    3) The average monthly salary to be paid to the employees in the business plan activities supported by the IYEP is limited to the following levels of gross minimum wage valid for the relevant period, which takes into consideration the training and experience of the personnel:
    • Maximum 7 times of the gross minimum wage applicable for the relevant period for personnel with a doctorate degree,
    • For employees graduated from undergraduate and graduate programs, if the period from the date of graduation to the date of application of the business plan is 48 months or more, 4 times of the maximum gross minimum wage for the relevant period,
    • Maximum of 2 times the gross minimum wage for the related period for associate degree graduates and personnel with high school and below education level.
  9. Are the services and facilities to be provided to the entrepreneur candidates at Stage 1 be paid for?
    No, all services and facilities provided to entrepreneur candidates are free of charge under the Entrepreneur Ramp Program
  10. Do we have the obligation to resign from the work we are currently working on if we are found eligible?
    No, you do not have to leave your work. But you should pay attention to the following points:

    1) There may be a situation in the company you are currently working with, which may prevent you from establishing your own company. We advise you to inform the company where you work.     It is not possible to make application to TUBITAK with more than one business idea in the same call period. However, candidates not knowing which of their ideas is supported can contact to InnoPark Entrepreneurship Center to get advice on which business ideas are best suited to them

  12. Can candidates whose business ideas are declined by another Implementing Organization apply to the Entrepreneur Rampt with the same business idea?
    If you trust your idea, “Yes”
  13. How do I reach the program implementation guidelines?

  14. What documents will be submitted during the application?
    The entrepreneur must submit the following documents to the Implementing Organization during pre-application:

    • For undergraduate students, a document issued by the university registrar showing that they can graduate within 1 year from the pre-application period,
    • Original or notarized copy of diploma or graduation document for undergraduate, master and Ph.D. graduates,
    • Original student certificate taken at the pre-application deadline for graduate and Ph.D. students,
    • Letter of Undertaking signed at pre-application period. In addition, those who completed their studies abroad must submit a certified original or notarized copy of the equivalency document from the Higher Education Council to the Implementing Agency within the pre-application period.

    If these documents are not provided or are missing, application to the Program will not be accepted
  15. Is the program open to candidates with foreign nationality?

    Yes. Candidates with foreign nationality can appply to BIGG Program if they satisfy following criteria

    -Bearing a "Turkish Republic Foreign Identification Number"
    -Bachelor or graduate degree of the candidate must be recognized by Turkish Higher Education Council.
